Kendry Paez unlikely to face heavy punishment over nightclub incident

According to the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea youngster Kendry Paez is unlikely to face significant punishment for attending a strip club gathering.

Chelsea spent £17.27 million last summer to sign Kendry Paez from Borussia Dortmund, considered one of the most promising young players in the world. He is set to officially join Chelsea after turning 18. However, he was spotted at a nightclub in New York with teammates from the Ecuador national team ahead of a friendly against Italy, sparking controversy.

However, journalist Matt Law pointed out that the young forward is unlikely to face any severe repercussions. Chelsea will likely not take direct action but will leave the matter to the Ecuadorian Football Federation and his current club, Borussia Dortmund.

It is expected that officials from the Ecuadorian Football Federation and the club will have a conversation with Paez regarding the incident, reminding him of his responsibilities. However, they will also take into consideration his age and the pressure exerted by older teammates. Some even noted that although Paez was present at the strip club, unlike other teammates, he did not drink excessively or spend recklessly.

As for the older players like Avoleda and Gonzalo Plata, they are likely to face serious consequences, including possible expulsion from the national team. Those close to Paez believe that this incident will be a valuable lesson for his growth and express disappointment that the older Ecuadorian players did not set a better example.

A source stated, "Paez is just a kid; he looks quite reserved in the video and didn't really engage. He did make a mistake, but he was mostly following along with the older players."The Ecuadorian Football Federation also released a statement regarding the incident: "Given the widely known facts, the Ecuadorian Football Federation issues the following statement: On Friday, March 22nd, from 2 pm to 8:30 pm, there was free time, which fully complied with the schedule."

"However, the incident that contradicts the values and principles that the federation has always defended and promoted during the representation of the national team has been broadcast, and this will be a reason for future call-ups. We reiterate our commitment to Ecuadorian football."

It's worth noting that the Ecuadorian Football Federation recently introduced a code of conduct this month, stipulating that any misconduct during the representation of the national team will result in a minimum fine of $1,000, and individuals responsible may be banned from football-related activities for up to two years. This code applies not only to players but also to officials and technical staff.
